Sip for Calm ~ Medicinal Lattes to nourish your nervous system
You know how much I love medicinal lattes and coffee alternatives. It’s not that coffee is bad for you, but a couple of years ago, I started noticing that every time I had a coffee—even a latte—I would get a horrible headache, almost like a hangover. So, I decided to experiment with other drinks that were less caffeinated or at least easier on my body.
These are my favourite medicinal lattes at the moment. Why do I always recommend trying them, especially in the afternoon after your morning coffee? They’re deeply nourishing, and you can enhance them with medicinal herbs, mushrooms, and adaptogens. Depending on how you’re feeling, you can choose a more calming and grounding latte or an energising one that won’t cause a massive cortisol spike but will actually nourish your nervous system. Plus, they’re absolutely delicious.
Calm & Energise Golden Latte
Ingredients:
1 tsp turmeric powder (anti-inflammatory and grounding)
½ tsp ginger powder (energy and digestion support)
½ tsp cardamon powder (supports digestion and calming)
½ tsp cinnamon powder (balancing blood sugar levels and supporting metabolism.)
1 tsp reishi mushroom powder (nervous system support and stress relief)
1 tsp ghee or coconut oil ~ optional (healthy fats for energy and absorption)
1 cup coconut milk or milk of your choice (creamy and grounding)
Black pepper (to enhance turmeric absorption)
Maple syrup or honey to taste
Instructions:
Heat the coconut milk gently.
Add turmeric, ginger, reishi, ghee, and a pinch of black pepper.
Whisk until smooth and frothy.
Sweeten to taste and enjoy warm.

Adaptogenic Matcha Latte
Ingredients:
1 tsp matcha powder (energy and focus)

1 tsp coconut butter ~ optional (healthy fats for sustained energy)
1 cup almond milk (or any plant-based milk)
Honey or maple syrup to taste ~ optional
Instructions:
Heat the almond milk gently, without boiling.
In a bowl, whisk matcha with a small amount of hot water to form a smooth paste.
Add ashwagandha, Lion’s Mane, and coconut butter to the milk, whisking until well combined.
Pour the matcha paste into the milk mixture and whisk until frothy.
Sweeten to taste and enjoy warm.

Nourishing Cacao Adaptogen Latte
Ingredients:

1 tsp maca powder (energy and hormonal balance)
1 tsp tahini (rich in minerals for grounding)
1 cup oat milk or any milk of your choice (creamy and nourishing)
1 medjool date (for natural sweetness)
Instructions:
Blend all ingredients in a high-speed blender until smooth.
Pour into a pot and gently heat.
Whisk until warm and frothy.
Serve with a sprinkle of cacao nibs on top.
