Skin care & hormonal health

Given that our skin is the largest organ, it's logical to consider that whatever we apply externally onto it will influence our overall health. Yet, why do we frequently overlook or remain unaware of this fact?

Speaking specifically about hormonal health, it's crucial to note that our hormones can be significantly affected by the chemical components present in skincare and beauty products.

Research indicates that certain chemical ingredients present in skincare products act as hormone disruptors and may even possess carcinogenic properties.

So, what's the alternative?

Ayurveda places a strong emphasis on incorporating natural elements not only in internal consumption but also in external applications. This philosophy aligns with the understanding that the skin can absorb substances. Hence, utilising natural, authentic ingredients in skincare routines aims to minimise exposure to synthetic or harmful substances that could potentially have adverse effects on both the skin and overall health. Ayurvedic skincare often includes ingredients like aloe vera, turmeric, and various herbal extracts due to their natural and beneficial properties. This approach resonates with the principle that what we apply on our skin should be as safe and nourishing as what we consume internally.

A couple of years ago, I made a conscious shift towards embracing more natural and organic skincare brands. These brands emphasise the use of genuine ingredients like essential oils and natural aromas.

Juniper is one of my favourites skin care brands, they use real ingredients such as macadamia oil, Jojoba oil, Aloe Vera, Rose hip oil with a beautiful and intentional blend of organic essential oils just to mention some.

When choosing skincare products, I recommend consider the following:

  • Choose organic, real ingredients.

  • Ingredients that you would consume internally.

  • Natural aromas, like essential oils.

  • Remember: less is more

If you're experiencing skin issues and a range of symptoms, these could be linked to various factors such as inflammation, nutrition, hormonal imbalance, or gut health. Choosing organic skincare products can be a significant step toward consciously caring for both your skin and overall health.

The journey to healthier skin involves more than just the products you apply. It's about understanding the intricate connections between our skin and various aspects of our health.

If you have any inquiries or need further guidance, don't hesitate to get in touch. We can conduct a more thorough consultation to explore other potential factors that might be impacting your skin and hormonal health.

Remember, caring for your skin goes beyond surface-level treatments. It's a holistic approach that embraces choices in products and an understanding of your body's unique needs.
