Why calorie counting doesn’t work?

Navigating through various diets and trends can create a lot of confusion and overwhelm, making it challenging to focus on simply nourishing ourselves for better health. This dilemma is something I consistently observe among both clients and friends. Yet, when we shift our mindset to emphasize real, unprocessed foods rather than fixating on calorie counting and navigating tricky packaging, it becomes a much simpler endeavor.

Merely being low in calories doesn’t equate to being healthy, and being labeled as healthy doesn’t imply it's low in calories. I don’t focus on calorie counting, even when weight loss is the primary goal. What truly matters to me is the composition of those calories.

Interestingly, numerous foods beneficial for our well-being happen to be calorie-dense due to their rich nutrient content. Packed with essential vitamins and minerals, these foods contribute positively to our health. Depletion of these nutrients can prompt our bodies to retain weight and trigger inflammation. The solution isn’t restriction, and it’s not about avoiding calories.

Prioritize nourishing your body and nurturing your well-being. Concentrate on what uplifts your spirits, provides energy, strength, and vitality. Embrace foods that bring you joy and relish them wholeheartedly. When did we forget that food isn’t just energy but also one of life’s greatest pleasures? In our modern world, we have access to an abundance of delicious and wholesome foods, but also so many foods that are labeled as “healthy”, “low in calories”, “low in fats and sugar” misleading the real information. Let's shift our mindset and emphasize nourishment. Regardless of the dietary path you choose, approach it with love and enjoyment at its core.
